Maintenance Operations Manager

This is a salaried role with a competitive compensation package, offering a base hourly rate of $52.50. The successful candidate will have a strong background in maintenance supervision, preferably in a wood products or manufacturing environment.
The Maintenance Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing the mill's equipment maintenance activities, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal production efficiency. This includes coordinating work schedules, assigning tasks, and managing preventative maintenance programs using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all equipment maintenance and repair activities, making decisions on maintenance schedules, priority of equipment repairs, overtime, and staffing needs.
- Lead, train, and develop maintenance staff for maximum effectiveness, performing all supervisory responsibilities associated with the assigned team.
- Responsible for completing projects on time and within budget, ordering parts, equipment, and tools as necessary.
- Design and develop new equipment or modify existing equipment to meet production needs, working with employees to ensure minimal equipment downtime.
- Champion the CMMS to ensure its effective use across all facets of the site, working with the Maintenance Planner to ensure the system meets the needs of the mill and staff.
- Assist with environmental affairs, including meeting air and water quality standards, testing, and meeting permit requirements.
- Responsible for working with safety committees, assisting with inspections and investigations, and following up on hazard reporting.
- Assist in maintaining quality control standards to maximize company profitability and achieve customer satisfaction.
- Complete administrative paperwork and reporting related to production reports, scheduling, personnel actions, timekeeping, and safety.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in production management, engineering, or other technical field with a minimum of 5 years of maintenance supervisory experience, preferably in a wood products or manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge and practical experience managing industrial electrical systems preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to read blueprints and design equipment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, with the ability to learn and use company-specific software.
