About the Role

PacifiCorp is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to manage the day-to-day operations of an electric utility in a geographic territory, region, or functional unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and implementing business objectives, strategies, and plans, as well as managing and allocating financial and employee resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning: Participate in activities related to the planning, design, building, maintenance, switching, and control of the electrical distribution and transmission systems.
  • Market Analysis: Analyze market and competition to understand the organization's strengths and weaknesses, identifying external threats and opportunities.
  • Change Management: Adapt strategy to changing conditions by overcoming resistance and supporting those affected by change.
  • Business Execution: Implement strategic business objectives, strategies, and plans in support of the company's strategic goals.
  • Resource Management: Manage and allocate financial and employee resources.
  • Budgeting: Usually responsible for establishment and adherence to department budget.
  • Safety Leadership: Promote safety in the workplace through demonstrated leadership.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to after-hour emergencies relating to the electrical system with both Distribution & Transmission activities/workload.
  • Substation Maintenance: Manage schedules and complete the annual substation maintenance plan and/or capital work.
  • Field Audits: Perform inspections and field audits of the substation maintenance and/or capital work performed.
  • Employee Development: Interview, hire, train, coach, and develop employees.
  • Process Improvement: Implement and deliver more efficient ways to perform the job.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience in the electric utility or related industry.
  • Training and Experience: Completion of the Assistant Manager training program, or equivalent amount of directly related electrical or utility experience.
  • Supervisory Experience: Previous supervisory experience or completion of the Assistant Manager training program.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated management, administrative, supervisory, and leadership skills.
  • Availability: Must be flexible and available in responding to after-hour emergencies under short notice on any given day, at any given time.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to lead, motivate, and influence employees.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and mainframe applications.
  • Confidentiality: Ability to conduct business and work with employees while understanding that information acquired in this position is confidential and must be treated as such in all communications.
  • Travel: Travel may be required.
  • Driver's License: Valid driver's license is required.
Preferences
  • Experience: A minimum of five years of experience in distribution operations, maintenance, and construction.
  • Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of labor agreements, accident prevention manuals, code requirements, personnel procedures, budgeting, and general company policies and procedures.
  • Electrical Systems: Knowledge of electrical system construction, operation, and maintenance practices.
