GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This role is designated exclusively for staffing agency personnel.

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for executing a variety of Nuclear Medicine procedures under the guidance of a licensed physician. This includes the use of radiopharmaceuticals and imaging techniques to aid in diagnosing and treating medical conditions across all age groups.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. *Uphold the mission, vision, and core values of the organization.

2. *Conduct radionuclide procedures, including PET/CT and SPECT/CT, under the supervision of a physician holding a Radioactive Materials License.

3. *Prepare radiopharmaceuticals for various methods of administration, including injection, ingestion, and inhalation; apply EKG patches and cables as needed.

4. *Employ sterile techniques as required.

5. *Accurately demonstrate patient anatomy and function through effective positioning and appropriate isotope selection.

6. *Perform venipuncture as necessary.

7. *Comply with all regulatory standards for radiation control and safety procedures; maintain proper documentation for compliance and accreditation.

8. *Assist Radiologists in the therapeutic application of radioisotopes under established safety protocols.

9. *Efficiently operate all nuclear medicine equipment and software, ensuring high-quality imaging results.

10. *Evaluate and document patient care and procedures in line with established nuclear medicine protocols.

11. *Maintain precise records of isotopes utilized.

12. *Conduct quality control checks on imaging equipment and ensure a safe working environment.

13. *Review patient histories and ensure accurate documentation of imaging studies.

14. *Provide care for patients of all ages while maintaining confidentiality.

15. *Coordinate examinations within the department and with other departments to ensure comprehensive patient care; communicate effectively with medical staff, patients, and families.

16. *Handle scheduling and coordination inquiries with professionalism and accuracy.

17. *Engage in the department's quality improvement initiatives as required.

18. *Clean and maintain equipment as necessary; report any issues to the supervisor.

19. *Ensure work areas are adequately stocked with necessary supplies.

20. *Administer medications and biologicals pertinent to job functions following standard operating procedures.

21. *Utilize effective communication techniques to educate patients about procedures, aiming to reduce anxiety.

22. *Assist in the orientation of new staff and student clinical education as directed.

23. *Cross-train in other non-invasive cardiovascular roles as needed.

24. *Transport patients and equipment safely to designated areas.

25. *Pursue professional development through workshops and affiliations to stay updated on industry trends.

26. *Participate in departmental meetings and projects as assigned.

27. *Perform additional related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Current certification from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (CNMT) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine is required.

OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:

Basic Life Support (CPR) certification is mandatory. Bryan Health acknowledges certifications from recognized organizations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Physical demands are classified as medium work, requiring the ability to exert varying levels of force to move objects.
