We are currently in search of a skilled and experienced Sous Chef to enhance our culinary team at Gemelle, a distinguished dining venue celebrated for its exceptional cuisine and sophisticated atmosphere. The Sous Chef will be instrumental in assisting the Executive Chef with all facets of kitchen management, ensuring the highest standards of quality and creativity in our seasonal offerings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Executive Chef in managing daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking methods, and presentation, while upholding the utmost standards of quality and consistency.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef to design and implement innovative menus that reflect the restaurant's culinary vision, utilizing seasonal ingredients and distinctive flavor combinations.
- Train, mentor, and oversee kitchen personnel to ensure compliance with recipes, portion control, and quality benchmarks, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
- Maintain rigorous standards of food quality, freshness, and sanitation, ensuring adherence to food cost targets through careful planning and procurement.
- Work closely with the front-of-house staff to provide exceptional dining experiences, accommodating special requests and dietary needs with precision and professionalism.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 4 years of demonstrated experience as a Sous Chef in an upscale or fine dining establishment.
- Strong culinary expertise with a passion for creativity and a solid understanding of modern culinary trends.
- Leadership skills with a collaborative and motivational approach to team management.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, showcasing exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Thorough knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety, and sanitation protocols.
- A culinary degree from an accredited institution is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Food Manager or Serve Safe Managers Certification is required.
