Position OverviewThe Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking a detail-oriented, professional, and results-driven individual to fill the role of Child Welfare Support Specialist. Under direct supervision, this position will accompany Child Protection Specialists to conduct investigations related to allegations of child abuse and neglect. The role involves assisting the Child Protection Specialist during interviews with children and families in various settings. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about child welfare and interested in contributing to the safety of children. Job Responsibilities- Acts as Child Welfare Support Specialist
- Observes children and reports any concerning behaviors to the Child Protection Specialist regarding their mental, social, and overall health
- Informs clients about available services through DCFS and partner agencies
- Maintains and organizes automotive records and materials, including mileage, maintenance, and expenses
- Performs additional duties as assigned that are within the scope of the role
Requires a combination of education, training, or experience that provides knowledge, skills, and mental development equivalent to either the completion of four years of high school or two years of experience working with culturally diverse populations in a public or private social welfare program.
Conditions of Employment- Requires the ability to travel as part of job duties. A valid driver's license, daily access to an automobile, and proof of vehicle insurance are necessary.
- Must pass a background check.
- Must be available to work in a 24-hour on-call capacity.
Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
