The Justice Court Clerk I plays a vital role in facilitating the smooth operation of the Justice Court by performing a variety of specialized clerical tasks that are essential to court services.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver exceptional customer service through in-person interactions and telephone communications.
- Manage and process various legal documents pertinent to court proceedings.
- Execute data entry tasks, along with photocopying and filing responsibilities.
- Assist with financial operations including receipting, bookkeeping, and collections.
- Retrieve and organize files, documents, and correspondence.
- Oversee the filing of legal documents.
- Coordinate hearings, notify involved parties, maintain the court calendar, and serve as a courtroom clerk.
- Undertake additional assigned responsibilities as required.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience:
A minimum of two (2) years of general clerical experience is necessary.
Additional Requirements:
A valid Arizona driver's license without restrictions is mandatory.

- Familiarity with automated case management systems, such as AJACS (preferred).
- Proficient use of Business English, including spelling, grammar, and composition.

- Effective filing and recordkeeping techniques.
- Clear verbal and written communication.
- Establishing and maintaining professional relationships.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Follow both written and verbal instructions accurately.

- Execute tasks with precision and identify discrepancies.
- Achieve a typing speed of at least sixty (60) words per minute.
- Understand and interpret written and verbal information.

- Conduct oneself with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.
Work Environment:
The position is based in an office environment that is well-lit and climate-controlled.
Physical Requirements:
Candidates must be able to sit or stand for extended periods, possess good vision, hearing, and speech for effective communication, lift up to 30 pounds, and perform repetitive movements with arms, fingers, and wrists.
