Job Objective:
Responsible for performing custodial tasks to maintain and safeguard the educational environment, including the building, grounds, equipment, and furnishings. Keeps the supervisor informed about maintenance issues and emerging concerns.

Operates under the guidance of the Supervisor to provide essential support services that ensure accessibility and opportunities for all students.


Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED.
Clear criminal record documentation.
Experience in custodial or building maintenance.
Basic skills in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
Ability to interpret and follow Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
Knowledge of HVAC control systems.
Proficient in boiler operations and maintenance.
Availability for emergency response.
Capability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
1. Conducts daily checks to determine if school activities require setup or cleanup.
2. Adheres to board policies, follows administrative procedures, and complies with the Employee Code of Conduct.
3. Promotes a positive image of the school district.
4. Monitors building conditions during working hours, identifying potential issues (e.g., unusual odors, noises, leaks) and reporting them immediately. Maintains clear fire exit routes.
5. Performs custodial duties, including regular trash removal, floor cleaning, sanitizing restrooms, and replenishing supplies.
6. Executes minor repairs without disrupting the work schedule.
7. Monitors heating and ventilation systems, reporting any issues.
8. Addresses unexpected situations (e.g., spills, broken glass) effectively.
9. Follows safety protocols for cleaning up hazardous materials and participates in safety training.
10. Cleans, moves, and arranges furnishings and supplies as needed.
11. Anticipates supply needs to prevent interruptions in the work schedule.
12. Assists with deliveries, including unloading and inspecting packages.
13. Inspects HVAC equipment as directed and prepares boilers for inspections.
14. Complies with safety regulations and ensures proper labeling and storage of custodial supplies.
15. Prepares and submits reports and inventories as required.
16. Documents any injuries requiring medical attention.
17. Performs grounds maintenance and prepares equipment for storage.
18. Clears snow and debris from sidewalks as directed.
19. Transports equipment and supplies as needed.
20. Reports any discipline issues or vandalism.
21. Inspects safety equipment and prepares for inspections.
22. Protects district property and responds to emergencies as necessary.
23. Assists with unexpected circumstances or urgent district needs.
24. Aids in building security and directs visitors appropriately.
25. Ensures safety by reporting unauthorized individuals or suspicious activities.
26. Reports suspected child abuse as mandated by law.
27. Stays informed about advancements in equipment technology.
28. Respects confidentiality and personal privacy.
29. Participates in meetings and professional development opportunities.
30. Takes responsibility for actions and decisions.
31. Maintains a professional appearance and appropriate work attire.
32. Strives to be a positive role model for others.
33. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
