Hospital Admissions Representative Full Time

Job Summary:
The Hospital Admissions Representative is a critical role in the healthcare industry, responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient patient registration and demographic information. This position requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain and verify patient demographic information, insurance benefits, and eligibility.
- Assign the correct medical record and account number, ensuring accurate billing and clinical information.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, and healthcare providers.
- Work collaboratively with healthcare teams to ensure seamless patient care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
- Perform pre-certification, credit referral, or deposit collection as necessary.
- Notify patients and families of insurance coverage issues, co-payments, deductibles, or deposits required.
- Review physician orders for completion and ensure all required information is listed.
- Complete Medicare Compliance and obtain ABN if necessary.
- Stay up-to-date on Federal, State, and Local laws pertaining to insurance rules and regulations.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED required.
- Minimum 1 year experience in a medical setting or heavy customer service environment.
- Ability to type a minimum of 35 WPM.
- Medical terminology knowledge or ability to learn.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or ability to obtain within 90 days from start date.
- Ability to obtain AVADE training offered by MLK Community Hospital within 30 days from start date.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years of ED admitting experience.
- Medical terminology knowledge.
- Computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office software programs.
- Ability to greet and effectively relate to patients, physicians, and staff.
- Great organizational skills and ability to set priorities and manage time effectively.
- Great interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Able to maintain professional demeanor in high-stress environment.
- Ability to deal with pressure and complaints.
