Hospital Admissions Representative Full Time

The Hospital Admissions Representative is responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient patient registration and demographic information. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities- Obtain and verify patient demographic information, insurance benefits, and eligibility
- Assign correct medical records and account numbers to ensure accurate billing and clinical information
- Perform pre-certification, credit referral, or deposit collection as necessary
- Notify patients, families, and healthcare providers of insurance coverage issues and required co-payments or deposits
- Review physician orders for completion and ensure all required information is listed
- Complete Medicare compliance and obtain ABN if necessary
- Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local laws pertaining to insurance rules and regulations
- Operate multiple computer systems and maintain accurate records
- Provide exceptional customer service and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner
- High school diploma or equivalent GED required
- Minimum 1 year experience in a medical setting or heavy customer service environment
- Ability to type a minimum of 35 WPM
- Medical terminology knowledge or ability to learn
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or ability to obtain within 90 days from start date
- Ability to obtain AVADE training offered by MLK Community Hospital within 30 days from start date
- 2 years of ED admitting experience
- Medical terminology knowledge
- Computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office software programs
- Ability to greet and effectively relate to patients, physicians, and staff
- Great organizational skills and ability to set priorities and manage time effectively
- Great interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Able to maintain professional demeanor in high-stress environment
- Ability to deal with pressure and complaints
