Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Charge Nurses, Nursing Leadership, and Medical Assistant Leads to develop and implement training and development plans for the Medical Assistant team.
  • Consistently follow and role-model Family Health Centers of San Diego policies and procedures to ensure positive patient outcomes.
  • Oversee the Medical Assistant schedule and performance metrics, ensuring that staff are performing within their scope of practice.
  • Supervise the workflow of the Medical Assistant team, delegating tasks and responsibilities as needed.
  • Act as a resource to Medical Assistant Preceptors and/or Medical Assistant Leads, participating in teaching and training as assigned.
  • Collaborate with Charge Nurses and clinic operations leadership to develop action plans to improve performance metrics as needed.
  • Monitor staff performance to ensure regulatory standards are maintained, including Vaccine Storage and Handling and clinic audit standards.
  • Ensure the completion of new Medical Assistants' 90-day competency assessment and provide ongoing training and support.
  • Participate in nursing staff meetings and huddles, promoting teambuilding and strong communication between service lines.
  • Apply and coach the team on 5S and continuous improvement methods in the workplace.
  • Monitor and review team MA performance reports, completing orientation and annual focal performance reviews of Medical Assistants under their charge.
  • Review patient care processes with the interdisciplinary team to ensure quality care.
  • Keep sites in compliance with TJC, DH, CHDP, and Medi-Cal Managed Care requirements.
  • Attend nursing in-services and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Medical Assistant diploma from an approved course required.
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the essential job duties, and which meets any required state or federal certification requirements.
  • Current American Heart Association healthcare provider CPR (BLS), or Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, or Advance Resuscitation Training required.
  • Ability and means to travel as needed in a timely manner within San Diego County, to locations that may have limited access to public transportation; proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used is required.
Experience/Specialized Skills (including Language)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as Medical Assistant required.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and be a resource to Medical Assistants and Medical Assistant Leadership teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to show flexibility, ensure accuracy, and meet changing priorities in a fast-paced, high-workload environment.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain good working relationships with employees, coworkers, and departments.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong motivation to act as a resource to new Medical Assistants.
Compensation and Benefits

Please note that the base salary range for this position is $32.12, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. Final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience.
