Position: Event Medical Services Supervisor

Employment Type: Part-Time

Location: San Francisco, California

We are seeking an Event Medical Services Supervisor to collaborate with the Operations Manager in ensuring that all Field Supervisors, Support Services, field personnel, vehicles, and equipment function efficiently and effectively. This role requires the ability to educate, adhere to, and enforce company policies and procedures. The Event Medical Services Supervisor will be responsible for making managerial decisions that positively impact the company's operations and taking necessary disciplinary actions when required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Address issues and inquiries from field personnel regarding work assignments, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Respond to emergencies as part of the EMS system to meet compliance standards and deliver quality care.
  • Foster coordinated teamwork among field crews as part of an integrated operational and clinical performance plan.
  • Investigate and resolve customer service inquiries from fire departments, hospitals, nursing staff, and patients regarding field employee performance and patient care.
  • Approve or deny shift exchanges when proper notice has been given after normal business hours and communicate changes to the scheduling coordinator.
  • Coordinate ambulance availability during disaster situations or mass casualty incidents, assisting as directed by the incident commander.
  • Respond to hazardous materials calls or unusual circumstances requiring multiple units.
  • Resolve scheduling conflicts during shifts to ensure the highest level of service and communicate changes to the scheduler.
  • Maintain knowledge of all company policies and regulations to ensure consistent interpretation when dealing with employees and the public.
  • Stay informed about current EMS protocols and regulations governing the EMS system.
  • Encourage an open-door policy for field employees, promoting discussions about issues and suggestions for improvement.
  • Participate in new employee orientation.
  • Collaborate with field training officers and clinical managers to identify clinical improvement opportunities and provide necessary follow-up.
  • Act as a liaison between field personnel, the Operations Manager, and the General Manager.
  • Conduct quarterly platoon meetings with supervisors and their crews, providing a list of topics and meeting minutes for follow-up.
  • Oversee daily operations, addressing issues that arise and supporting field personnel to uphold the standards of the organization.
  • Supervise Operations Supervisors, ensuring ongoing training in administrative duties and daily operations.
  • Assist in overseeing Support Services and Dispatch.
  • Manage investigations and employee performance issues.
  • Oversee employee uniform accounts.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Comply with information systems security policies and procedures, ensuring all users are aware of their responsibilities.
  • Mentor employees, conduct performance evaluations, provide counseling, and implement disciplinary actions as necessary, fostering individual and team development for positive outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with and enforcement of company and departmental policies and procedures.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current and valid EMT/Paramedic certification, state-approved CPR certification, BLS card, and Driver's License.
  • 2 to 3 years of field experience as an EMT/Paramedic, with prior EMS supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with a proficient understanding of county/state geography, protocols, procedures, and policies, as well as the organization's policies and health and safety manual.
