Responsibilities
- Perform routine medical procedures, including DOT and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing, under the supervision of a treating clinician.
- Prepare patients for physical examinations, taking vital signs and conducting ancillary testing as needed.
- Assist providers during examinations and treatments, ensuring accurate and efficient delivery of care.
- Triaging emergent patients and preparing procedure setups and injury care as needed.
- Apply bandages, dressings, and splints as ordered by the treating clinician.
- Dispense medications and DME as ordered by the treating clinician, adhering to state regulations.
- Complete quality assurance activities on equipment and medical devices, ensuring compliance with current policies and procedures.
- Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock exam rooms to ensure a clean and organized environment.
- Operate medical devices and equipment, including calibration and record-keeping, in accordance with company policies.
- Notify supervisors immediately if equipment is malfunctioning, supplies are needed, or the facility is not operating as expected.
- Participate in patient flow and volume management, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Communicate wait times and provide exceptional customer service to patients.
- Perform front office duties, including greeting patients, obtaining authorization, and checking in/out.
- Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules, maintaining confidentiality and security of patient information.
- Attend center staff meetings and huddles as required, staying informed about company updates and initiatives.
- Contribute to maintaining a neat, clean, and orderly appearance throughout the facility.
- Complete training and certification requirements, including clinical competency training.
Qualifications
Education Level: Vocational/Technical/Business School
- Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited school (credentials in the state of employment in accordance with state requirements and applicable regulations) or Military Medical Specialist with current Medical Assistant credentials in the state of employment in accordance with state requirements and applicable regulations.
- Customarily has at least six months or more of medical assistant experience.
- Knowledge of medical procedures and medical terminology.
- Working knowledge of occupational medicine requirements (state specific) preferred.
