Job Summary

This role is accountable for supervising and monitoring the tasks of Construction Technicians and/or contractors, ensuring that new construction, repairs, and system maintenance activities are conducted according to established standards. Responsibilities include managing certain aspects of construction activities, such as planning materials, labor, and resource allocation. The individual will act as a lead in teams and projects, possessing developed knowledge and skills in their discipline while still acquiring advanced skills. Moderate guidance will be provided in their area of expertise.

Core Responsibilities

  • Oversees the execution of construction duties, including the installation of overhead and underground infrastructure, such as hard-line cables, framing and strand poles, and ensuring the safe operation of construction vehicles.
  • Monitors and maintains accurate records related to project initiation, milestone dates, production logs, material costs, and labor expenditures.
  • Instructs on work site safety standards, conducts site visits to ensure compliance, and participates in regular safety meetings with the crew.
  • Ensures that resources, including vehicles, equipment, and inventory, are kept in optimal working condition.
  • Possesses critical knowledge of permitting, utilities, and telecommunications; an engineering background and PMP certification are advantageous.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in tools such as Excel, Google Earth, P2, CAD, and the ability to read and design maps.
  • Supports specialists and the leadership team in project coordination.
  • Generates logs and reports on construction activities, projects, materials, and expenditures.
  • Addresses and resolves customer requests and complaints.
  • Monitors the performance of the construction crew against established goals and objectives.
  • Advises, trains, and guides technicians.
  • Assists with the annual budget for plant construction.
  • Conducts field surveys of project sites to gather and record details, monitor progress, and perform post-construction reviews.
  • Coordinates all phases of construction projects, including pre-construction meetings, site surveys, permit applications, material procurement, and contract labor requirements.
  • Oversees subcontractor activities.
  • Engages with government officials and representatives from utilities, contractors, and internal business partners.
  • Provides technical advice and engineering support to various departments, including Procurement, Warehouse, Legal, and Design Center functions.
  • Develops cost estimates for projects, monitors job costs, evaluates change orders, and controls project costs to stay within budget.
  • Maintains knowledge of the National Electric Codes.
  • Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is required, with the ability to work nights, weekends, and overtime as necessary.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
