Job Summary
This role is pivotal in supervising and monitoring the activities of Construction Technicians and contractors, ensuring that new construction, repairs, and system maintenance are executed according to established standards. Responsibilities include managing aspects of construction activities such as materials, labor, and resource allocation planning. The position acts as a team lead on projects, requiring developed knowledge and skills within the discipline while still acquiring advanced competencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the execution of overhead and underground construction tasks, including the installation of hard-line cables, framing and erecting poles, and ensuring the safe operation of construction vehicles.
- Maintain accurate records related to project timelines, production logs, material costs, and labor expenditures.
- Enforce work site safety standards through regular visits and participation in safety meetings.
- Ensure that all resources, including vehicles and equipment, are kept in optimal working condition.
- Possess a strong understanding of permitting, utilities, and telecommunications; an engineering background and PMP certification are advantageous.
- Utilize software tools such as Excel, Google Earth, P2, and CAD for project management and design.
- Assist Specialists and leadership in coordinating various projects.
- Generate comprehensive logs and reports on construction activities, materials, and expenditures.
- Address and resolve customer requests and complaints effectively.
- Monitor the performance of construction crews against established goals and objectives.
- Provide training and guidance to technicians.
- Support the annual construction budget planning.
- Conduct field surveys and post-construction reviews to gather and record project details.
- Coordinate all phases of construction projects, including pre-construction meetings, site surveys, and material procurement.
- Supervise subcontractor activities to ensure compliance with project standards.
- Engage with government officials and representatives from utilities and contractors.
- Offer technical advice and engineering support to various departments, including Procurement and Legal.
- Develop cost estimates, monitor job costs, and manage change orders to maintain budget control.
- Familiarity with National Electric Codes is essential.
- Maintain regular attendance and be available for variable schedules, including nights and weekends as necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
