Role Summary:
The Nursing Academic Success Coordinator plays a pivotal role in enhancing student retention and progression within the nursing program. This position involves collaborating with nursing faculty and staff to create an environment conducive to student achievement. The coordinator will oversee grant-related activities, ensuring that objectives are met through effective data management and analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain partnerships to establish articulation agreements that facilitate smooth academic transitions for nursing students.
- Collaborate with educational partners to implement curriculum components at Cecil College.
- Provide guidance and support to students enrolled in the ATB program.
- Create informative resources and workshops aimed at educating nursing students about academic progression pathways.
- Work alongside nursing faculty to design and implement supportive learning experiences, including tutoring and skill-building workshops.
- Initiate success contracts for nursing students requiring additional academic assistance.
- Monitor student progress and collaborate with faculty to address individual needs.
- Enhance learning sessions with supplementary resources available on the learning management system.
- Conduct weekly meetings with nursing faculty to discuss student performance and identify further support needs.
- Organize and facilitate in-class workshops focused on effective test-taking strategies.
- Coordinate individual and group study sessions to promote collaborative learning.
- Perform post-exam analyses with students referred by faculty to enhance understanding and performance.
- Refer students to additional academic support services as necessary.
- Facilitate communication between students and faculty to ensure clarity and support.
- Engage in academic monitoring and data collection to track retention rates and student progress.
- Assist in preparing and submitting reports related to student success initiatives.
- Participate in meetings to provide updates on student progress and gather faculty referrals.
- Support the development of departmental policies aimed at enhancing first-year student success.
- Engage in student workshops and orientations as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: A Master's degree in nursing is required, along with a minimum of three years of supervisory experience in an educational setting.
Experience: Proven experience in program administration, particularly in grant-funded initiatives, is essential. Familiarity with monitoring and reporting processes is also required.
Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills are crucial for effective interaction with students and colleagues. Proficiency in technology, including Microsoft Office and learning management systems, is necessary.
