JOB SUMMARY: Under the guidance of the Coordinator of IT Audio Visual Systems, the Audio Visual Systems Specialist is responsible for operating and troubleshooting AV and IT equipment before, during, and after scheduled distance-learning sessions to ensure seamless connectivity and class operation.

This role also supports various on-campus events that require AV and IT equipment, including PA systems, Windows PCs, and video conferencing platforms such as Polycom, Teams, and Zoom.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Facilitate distance learning classes and videoconference meetings.
2. Provide user support to address audio-visual needs for faculty, staff, and students.
3. Operate and troubleshoot AV and related equipment, including Polycom units, PA systems, Windows PCs, and video conferencing platforms (Teams and Zoom).
4. Ensure connectivity to remote sites and the smooth operation of distance learning classes.
5. Report hardware issues and failures to the Coordinator of IT Audio Visual Systems.
6. Assist with on-campus events requiring AV support.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
1. Basic knowledge and troubleshooting skills for audio-visual equipment.
2. Introductory understanding of Windows and Microsoft Office.
3. Ability to operate and troubleshoot video conferencing platforms (Polycom, Teams, Zoom).
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
6. Strong problem-solving abilities.
7. Basic networking knowledge is advantageous.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Experience:
Experience in a higher education setting is preferred.

SCHEDULING:
Evening availability is essential to accommodate the distance-learning schedule. Day and weekend availability may be necessary to support other on-campus events. There are multiple positions available, with schedules varying; applicants must be available M-F from 4:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs.

The physical activities associated with this position include, but are not limited to:
climbing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pulling, lifting, grasping, twisting, and sitting.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require standard safety precautions typical of office or meeting and training rooms. This includes safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, and adhering to fire and building safety regulations.

This position provides support for information technology at Cecil College's North East campus and may extend to other locations and instructional sites as needed.
