JOB: Director of Merchant Accounting
i3 Verticals Healthcare is looking for a Director of Merchant Accounting to oversee its financial operations. This pivotal role will report directly to the VP of Merchant Operations and work in close partnership with the executive leadership team.
The primary responsibility of this position is to guide and enhance the Merchant Accounting team in the preparation and analysis of financial reports pertinent to Merchant Accounting and Settlement activities. Key duties include generating settlement reports, managing residual distributions, and ensuring compliance with audit and tax requirements.
The Director will act as a subject matter expert and mentor, showcasing strong business insight and a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles. Effective collaboration with the Finance and Operations Departments is crucial to ensure a thorough understanding of data flow within the organization.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong intellectual curiosity, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a high level of proficiency in data analysis methodologies. They should be proactive in leading initiatives that influence company-wide operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and cultivate the Merchant Accounting Team
- Assign tasks and identify opportunities for process improvements
- Analyze financial data to identify trends and variances
- Develop documentation for resolving issues
- Support audit processes and ongoing monitoring
- Optimize residual reporting procedures
- Formulate accounting strategies that align with organizational objectives
- Initiate changes to improve financial and operational workflows
- Maintain professional communication with stakeholders
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE):
- Bachelor's Degree
- Previous Management Experience
- Background in Accounting or Finance
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Access
- Strong critical thinking and time management skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE):
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Experience in the Payments Processing Sector
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This role requires the ability to communicate effectively, handle objects, and occasionally lift items weighing up to 25 pounds. Vision capabilities include both close and distant vision. Noise levels in the work environment are generally low to moderate.
