Financial Analyst Lead

This position supports the Operating Expense (OpEx) Accounting team within the Government segment at Cigna. The role requires a combination of business knowledge and technical skills to create efficiencies and provide analytical insight. Our team uses problem-solving during the monthly close process to support all our customers.
- Review and/or create monthly journal entries for corporate and/or market segments.
- Review multiple sources to establish and document monthly accruals, preparing variance reports and analyzing to confirm completeness.
- Submit monthly intercompany payments for review and approval.
- Review and approve account reconciliations.
- Maintain effective communication with internal customers, working closely with department heads and FP&A staff.
- Prepare monthly financial statement distributions to management and department heads within corporate and/or market segments.
- Compile documentation for internal and external audits.
- Conduct research and assist in special projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for analysis and interpretation of moderately complex financial information.
- Utilize independent judgment and discretion to identify trends, variances, and key issues, providing recommendations for adjustment.
- Assist upper management with special projects and additional data analysis.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Four to six years of financial analysis or related experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products and computerized accounting software such as PeopleSoft or Oracle.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- A hybrid in-office/work-from-home flexible arrangement.
