Mechanical Estimator Internship

The Mechanical Estimator Intern will assist the project team and estimating department in reviewing project 3D models, plans, and specifications to quantify project elements such as mechanical, plumbing, and process equipment, fixtures, piping, ductwork, and appurtenances. This role is ideal for students pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and interpret design, construction drawings, specifications, and technical manuals
Generate, receive, and distribute requests for information (RFI)
Compare and quantify addendums
Tally construction elements and summarize quantities in Excel and other estimating software
Requirements:
High School diploma or GED required
Proficient in Algebra I and Geometry
Pursuing a bachelor's degree or Technology certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent degree and/or equivalent field work experience preferred
Work Environment:
This is a 10-week internship, 40 hours a week, on-site at Hoffman Construction. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and reading printed and digital documents. The ability to communicate conversationally and professionally in English is essential.
