Radiology Support Specialist

Position Overview
As a vital member of our healthcare team, the Radiology Support Specialist serves as a welcoming presence for patients and their families, ensuring a smooth transition into the care environment. This role is essential in assisting radiologists and medical professionals with patient management, communication, and report handling as necessary. The specialist also facilitates patient transport and adheres to compliance standards for the distribution of patient information.
Key Responsibilities
1. Prioritize patient orders based on the time of receipt and severity of conditions to enhance patient experience.
2. Maintain clear communication with patients regarding their wait times throughout their visit.
3. Schedule imaging examinations accurately and efficiently, ensuring all necessary information is gathered.
4. Verify physician orders and patient account details prior to check-in, including order entry and document scanning.
5. Manage image storage and retrieval processes, providing necessary images and reports to healthcare providers and patients.
6. Import external images into the PACS system, ensuring proper management of outside images.
7. Prepare images and reports for physician conferences, including quality assurance projects as required.
8. Facilitate communication between physicians after hours and coordinate with technologists and nursing staff as needed.
9. Assist in scheduling and coverage coordination for team members.
10. Stay informed of departmental updates and organizational changes by reviewing communications regularly.
11. Transport patients as assigned, ensuring their comfort and safety.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not include management responsibilities and reports to a designated supervisor or manager.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent, or post-secondary education.
- Previous experience in a support role is preferred.
- CPR certification is required.

- Exceptional customer service skills are essential.
