Description
We are seeking a Radiologic Imaging Specialist - Permanent, operating within the Healthcare Systems and Services sector.
Position Overview
The Radiologic Imaging Specialist (Mobile) is an integral member of the Imaging Float Pool. All personnel within this pool are expected to provide support across various facilities. Under the guidance of the department manager and the lead technologist, the Radiologic Imaging Specialist is responsible for executing a range of procedures utilizing ionizing radiation. Specific tasks for CT operations are outlined in accordance with departmental protocols. A positive contribution to interpersonal relationships among all stakeholders is essential. The specialist performs CT scans as directed by the Radiologist or Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately identifies patients using two identifiers. Communicates effectively with nursing staff or physicians regarding patient needs. Notifies nursing of patients requiring IV sedation or biopsies. Completes CT and female questionnaires for all patients aged 11-50 years. Positions patients correctly for all CT examinations, ensuring optimal visibility of anatomy. Maintains in-depth knowledge of scanning protocols and performs procedures accurately, referencing protocol documentation as needed. Ensures timely completion of studies, marking them ready for review as soon as possible. Prepares the examination room with necessary supplies and maintains cleanliness and stock levels at all times. Ensures that all tables and trays are sanitized after each patient. Utilizes proper techniques for IV contrast administration, confirming IV functionality with saline injections. Demonstrates proficiency with imaging workstations, 3D imaging, and multiplanar reconstruction. Responds appropriately to emergency situations. 40%
- Explains the CT procedure to patients and/or their family members. Collects completed questionnaires and relevant clinical history from patients, nursing staff, or physician offices. Keeps patients and families informed of any delays. Provides training to co-workers and students. Assists fellow technologists when not engaged in assigned CT duties. 15%
- Verifies orders and checks for appropriate clinical indications. Charges for procedures and supplies upon completion of exams. Documents no-film badge usage and fluoroscopy time. Operates the PACS system correctly and verifies studies before archiving. Reports equipment issues to the supervisor and documents confirmation numbers. Completes all necessary forms for procedures, including contrast media forms for patients receiving IV and rectal contrast. Communicates with radiologists to establish appropriate protocols for each examination, ensuring adherence to prescribed procedures. Recognizes anatomy and pathology relevant to the scans being processed. Performs warm-up calibrations as required. The CT manager evaluates staff based on performance expectations that align with their job responsibilities, including Point of Care testing. 20%
- Ensures effective handoff communication regarding patients to the relieving shift before departing the work area. Maintains cleanliness and stock levels in the examination room at all times. Assists other technologists in different rooms during downtime. Participates in training co-workers and students. 5%
- Strives for patient satisfaction as per organizational standards. Results are documented in the annual evaluation based on the Patient Satisfaction scorecard. Adheres to established Standards of Behavior. 15%
- Maintains the necessary competencies for level 2 career ladder criteria and reviews documentation accordingly. 5%

Qualifications Required for Success
Minimum Requirements
- Associate's Degree - Completion of an accredited radiology program
- ARRT-RADIOLOGICAL TECHNOLOGIST - ARRT
- RSQA - RAD QUALITY STANDARD - RQSA
- CT TECHNOLOGIST CERTIFIED - C061
- Minimum one year of CT experience - preferred.
- Patient Equipment (Suction, Vitals, Defibrillator) PACS HIS/RIS
