Job Summary

The Patient Access Representative is responsible for obtaining accurate and current patient demographics and insurance information to facilitate registration and verification of insurance benefits. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient interviews to obtain demographic and financial data for registration and insurance verification.
  • Verify patient eligibility for insurance coverage and calculate patient liability due to the healthcare system.
  • Negotiate payment arrangements with patients as needed.
  • Assist patients with navigation to nursing units and provide medical mobility assistance as required.
  • Escalate potential service issues to management as necessary.
  • Adhere to compliance requirements for order validation, cash policy, government payor requirements, and patient safety.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in healthcare or customer service.
  • Proven listening, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in high-stress environments.
  • Excellent data entry, numeric, typing, and computer navigational skills.
  • Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office.
