Job Summary

The Access Services Representative 2 plays a crucial role in ensuring seamless patient registration and financial clearance processes. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare teams to obtain accurate demographic and insurance information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough patient interviews to gather demographic and financial data for registration, insurance verification, and billing purposes.
  • Stay up-to-date on patient flow processes in various areas to ensure efficient registration and clearance.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements that promote team collaboration and enhance revenue cycle functions and patient experience.
  • Interact with other departments to provide timely information on patient delays, schedule changes, and other relevant updates.
  • Verify patient eligibility for insurance coverage and calculate patient liability according to financial clearance policies.
  • Establish patient liability and advise patients of deposit requirements, negotiate payment arrangements as needed.
  • Perform cashiering responsibilities, including handling cash, credit card transactions, and other financial transactions.
  • Assist patients with navigation to nursing units, provide directions, and offer medical mobility assistance when necessary.
  • Escalate potential service issues to management when required.
  • Adhere to compliance with order validation, cash policy requirements, government payor regulations, and patient safety protocols.
  • Conduct formal training sessions and serve as a resource to colleagues.
Requirements
  • 2 years of experience in healthcare or customer service, or equivalent education.
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, and communication skills, with professional telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in high-stress environments, including traumatic situations.
  • High level of empathy and effective communication skills to interact with patients and families during challenging events.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in an organized and effective manner.
  • Excellent data entry, numeric, typing, and computer navigation skills.
  • Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office proficiency.
