Key Responsibilities:

  • Warmly greet and assist patients upon arrival, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Handle incoming calls promptly, providing accurate information and relaying messages as necessary.
  • Guide patients in completing necessary medical history and information forms, making updates as required.
  • Collect and verify complete demographic and insurance details from patients, ensuring all necessary documentation is accurately completed.
  • Facilitate the collection of co-payments and outstanding balances, explaining financial responsibilities to patients.
  • Assess patient financial situations and establish payment plans when appropriate.
  • Conduct insurance and benefits verification, notifying relevant parties of any coverage issues.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments and communicate any authorization or referral requirements to patients.
  • Stay informed about the insurance plans accepted by our practice.
  • Process record requests while adhering to HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
  • Manage cash transactions securely and accurately.
  • Uphold patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards.
  • Ensure a tidy and organized front office environment.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience:

  • 1-2 years of experience in patient registration or front office roles within a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with insurance protocols, medical terminology, and scheduling software is essential.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients and staff.
  • Experience in financial transactions and collections is advantageous.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of insurance regulations and eligibility verification.
  • Proficient in medical terminology and HIPAA compliance.
  • Competence in using computer systems for patient management.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant workplace.
