Position Overview

The Senior Mechanical Engineer serves as a key individual contributor, tasked with the mechanical design and analytical assessment of assigned deliverables for CB&I projects. This includes the intricate design of process equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and rotating machinery.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage projects and processes with a high degree of independence and minimal supervision. Challenges encountered may be complex and multifaceted.
- Engage in a variety of tasks including conceptual studies, cost and planning assessments, layouts, design calculations, specification development, and oversight of vendor packages for mechanical systems and equipment.
- Report directly to the Department Manager while collaborating with fellow Mechanical Engineers, Project Engineers, and professionals from other engineering disciplines, as well as Supply Chain and Project Management teams.

Specific Duties Include:
- Conduct engineering calculations to support design initiatives.
- Oversee mechanical engineering tasks related to the requisitioning of process equipment, including sizing calculations and the creation of data sheets and specifications.
- Manage the requisitioning of diverse process equipment, such as pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, fired heaters, pressure vessels, and complex equipment packages.
- Evaluate equipment supplier proposals and prepare technical bid assessments.
- Review supplier drawings and specifications, coordinating input from other engineering disciplines, including piping, electrical, and instrumentation.
- Mentor junior mechanical engineers and, depending on project scope, may assume the role of Mechanical Engineering Lead.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and liaise with vendors and contractors.
- Maintain detailed documentation to track project progress and design processes.
- Ensure adherence to project timelines and budget constraints.
- Uphold and promote a focus on CB&I's products, whether in engineering, fabrication, or construction.

Qualifications:

- Minimum of 10 years in the industry.
- 5-10 years of experience in the discipline.
- A Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field from an accredited institution is required.
- Familiarity with standards such as ASME, ANSI, API, ASTM, TEMA, and NFPA is essential.
- Relevant experience in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) projects, particularly in refineries or petrochemical plants, is highly desirable. Experience with low-temperature and cryogenic applications is advantageous.
- Engineer In Training (EIT) certification or progress towards obtaining EIT, followed by a professional engineering license, is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Proficiency in document markup software such as Adobe Pro, Bluebeam, or similar tools is required.
