Job Description

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled Field Service Engineer to join our team at Veolia Environnement SA. As a key member of our water treatment team, you will be responsible for the commissioning of evaporator and crystallizer units, ensuring that process equipment and control systems perform to specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commissioning of evaporator and crystallizer units, ensuring process equipment and control systems perform to specifications.
  • Construction liaison between design engineering and construction during the commissioning of thermal systems.
  • Provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, calibration, repair, and maintenance at customer sites.
  • Manage activities of outside vendors and suppliers, ensuring services and supplies meet project specifications and performance requirements.
  • Develop log sheets to document and monitor equipment operation.
  • Develop and execute commissioning schedules and performance plans.
  • Develop and execute classroom and hands-on training regarding the operation and maintenance of process equipment.
  • Participate in P&ID reviews, model reviews, engineering design meetings, and safety in design reviews to ensure accessibility, maintenance, and operation of process equipment.
  • Perform control system factory acceptance tests with clients and client-designated representatives.
  • Perform after-market services such as site inspection, equipment inspection, and operator training.
  • Travel in support of domestic and international trips; anticipated travel 60-70%.
  • Maintain a strong safety mindset to ensure executed work reflects technical requirements within Veolia safety standards.
  • Prepare timely and accurate technical reports for customer records and a reference for future outages.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to tasks such as water treatment chemistry calculations, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of budgets, and monitoring Time & Material (T&M) contract costs.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Improve operations and determine if design works will not work.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Requirements:

  • Preferred Bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical engineering, or process engineering with a minimum of 3 years of experience in power plants, chemical process facilities, or wastewater treatment plants.
  • Possess basic chemistry knowledge (including water treatment) and communicate that information to others.
  • Must know structural, mechanical, hydraulics, electrical, piping, welding specifics, and civil notations.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, detail-oriented.
  • Ability to write procedures and manuals that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to functional management and to customers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Ability to synthesize information from different engineering disciplines.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong PC skills and familiarity with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel.
  • Training in Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures preferred.
  • Operating experience with water treatment equipment, including evaporators, crystallizers, reverse osmosis systems, microfiltration, clarification, and conventional filtration.
