OVERVIEW OF ROLE:

The Mechanical and Electrical Systems Engineer position is tasked with executing a wide range of responsibilities to install, diagnose, repair, and sustain production and facility machinery in alignment with safety protocols, predictive maintenance, and operational efficiency systems, thereby contributing to the overall success of NeilMed Pharmaceuticals.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Carry out a variety of essential tasks to install and upkeep production machinery and the facility's equipment.
  • Respond to urgent repair needs of production machinery during operational hours and conduct scheduled maintenance tasks during machine downtimes.
  • Execute basic machinist functions and responsibilities.
  • Utilize mechanical skills encompassing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of production machinery.
  • Interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform necessary maintenance and servicing.
  • Identify issues, replace or repair components, conduct tests, and make necessary adjustments.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on machinery, equipment, and facility infrastructure as directed by supervisory personnel.
  • Employ a range of hand and power tools, electrical meters, and material handling equipment in executing duties.
  • Recognize faulty operations, defective materials, and report any unusual circumstances to the appropriate supervisory staff.
  • Adhere to safety standards and maintain organized and clean workspaces.

QUALIFICATION CRITERIA (EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, SKILLS, EDUCATION)

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Applicants must possess: Four or more years of postsecondary engineering education, OR eight or more years of engineering-related experience with an associate degree, OR a combination of postsecondary education and engineering-related experience totaling over ten years.

AND

  • Successful completion of the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
  • No prior convictions related to engineering practice.
  • A post-secondary degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance engineering.
  • Experience in the FMCG or pharmaceutical sectors is preferred.
  • Experience in organizing packaging machinery with troubleshooting and setup capabilities.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

  • Proficient in reading schematics.
  • Ability to prepare, maintain, and present activity reports.
  • Capable of ordering and acquiring necessary parts and tools.

Work Environment

In the course of performing job duties, employees may frequently encounter fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical components, and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment can be elevated.

Physical Requirements

Employees are regularly required to communicate verbally and audibly. This position is not sedentary; it involves significant physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the workday.
