About the Role

Ryder is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic Technician to join our team in Plainfield, CT. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing vehicle maintenance and repair duties, ensuring our fleet of heavy-duty vehicles is in top condition.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance, including oil changes, brake and tire work
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers
  • Replace defective components as instructed
  • Perform facility maintenance duties and interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints
  • Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or Technical Certification, Post-Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred

  • A competitive hourly pay rate of $31.50 per hour
  • A sign-on bonus of $2,500, paid in two installments of $1,250 at 30 and 90 days
  • A certification bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
  • A quarterly bonus of up to $500, paid four times per year
