We are currently in search of a Structural Engineer or Mechanical Engineer to join our Alexandria, VA Office. The Commercial Services department focuses on the design, inspection, testing, and installation of suspended access and fall protection systems for commercial buildings and industrial facilities.


Responsibilities:
  • Engage with clients and develop proposals for inspections, testing, and installations.
  • Conduct inspections on suspended access and fall protection systems in compliance with OSHA, ANSI, IWCA, and ASME standards.
  • Oversee load testing and equipment installation projects from inception to completion.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to recent engineering graduates regarding company protocols and engineering calculations.
  • Perform engineering calculations on equipment and supporting structural components.
  • Create design drawings and specifications.
  • Manage subcontractors involved in installations.
  • Review and generate certification reports.

Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • Entry-level engineers are encouraged to apply.
  • 0 to 5 years of experience in structural engineering and/or construction.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, capable of interacting with all levels of client representatives.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with basic mechanical tools.
  • Good organizational and project management skills.
  • Heightened safety awareness in various construction environments.
  • Willingness to travel at least 25% and work in the field approximately 50% of the time.
  • Ability to work occasional night and weekend projects.
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude.

Preferred Requirements:
  • Inspection experience.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Knowledge of performing calculations for structural components (e.g., concrete slabs, steel/concrete beams, columns) using relevant codes and standards (AISC, ACI, IBC, etc.).
