Job Summary

Gallagher Bassett Technical Services is seeking a qualified Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) professional to join our Safety & Health team as a Site Safety Manager. This contract-based full-time position will oversee safety operations for New York City metro area construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and enforce applicable construction site safety programs in accordance with federal, state, local, and customer requirements.
  • Oversee and manage all site activities related to safe work practices, reviewing construction/engineering designs and plans.
  • Ensure subcontractors perform required actions and duties for safety compliance, fire/life safety, safety training, and emergency procedures.
  • Perform daily safety inspection report audits and related testing and verification of operational safety readiness.
  • Coordinate safety personnel for construction or build-out projects/activities and safety-related items with the General Contractor's office.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in safety, industrial hygiene, occupational safety and health, environmental health, or related field.
  • NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) Licensed Site Safety Manager.
  • Valid Supervisor (62-hr) SST Card.
  • Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) with a minimum of fifteen (15) years of professional construction safety experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • NYC DOB licensed Construction Superintendent.
  • Experience working on NYCDDC projects or with other public, local, state, or government Agencies.
  • Active member of American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP).
  • Bi-lingual or multi-lingual communication skills.
Behaviors
  • Ability to negotiate client properties, including walking, climbing, lifting, and standing.
  • Ability to work independently to deliver on a timely basis with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills to participate in multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize assignments, and prepare daily/comprehensive reports.
