Job SummaryThe Field Safety Manager is responsible for providing professional knowledge and expertise in the administration and support of safety programs. This includes coordinating with the Corporate Safety function to create regional safety programs and assisting regional leadership in their implementation.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with SP+ safety policies and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing environmental health and safety.
- Analyze risk information to identify trends, develop necessary programs, prioritize initiatives, and evaluate performance.
- Serve as the day-to-day Safety resource for designated region.
- Remain familiar with safety policies and procedures to conduct hazard and risk assessments and make recommendations to senior management.
- Track and analyze ongoing safety, conduct periodic evaluations, and provide safety statistics and performance metrics.
- Manage the region's vehicle telematics initiative (SmartDrive).
- Develop and deliver safety and health-related training in accordance with SP+'s requirements.
- Ensure information on incidents is shared adequately across the region.
- Conduct on-site reviews of accident scenes, collect pertinent data and information, interview involved parties/witnesses, document, and report findings.
- Continually seek opportunities to improve the knowledge and skill of regional management to improve systems and positively impact safe operations.
- Promote safety awareness in the region.
- Champion regional safety initiatives and policies and ensure their implementation.
- Track all regional claims and produce reports as needed.
- Ensure all SP+ employees in the region have completed the proper safety training.
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Occupational Safety or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for other college majors.
- 4+ years of safety and health compliance experience or equivalent operational experience is required.
- Creative thinker with the ability to translate complex ideas and metrics into simple, actionable recommendations.
- Ability to analyze workplace incidents and suggest alternative methods to prevent injury in the future.
- Skilled at obtaining and processing information and providing actionable feedback to the organization.
- Strong analytical, logical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with high attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and Google software applications.
