Gannett Fleming undertakes both small and large-scale initiatives where key client priorities include system reliability, performance, and adherence to schedules and budgets.

We are currently in search of an Electrical Engineer specializing in Power Generation to join our team. As an Electrical Project Specialist, you will facilitate and execute our power engineering services by engaging in all facets of conventional electrical engineering design and analysis for power generation facilities, industrial sites, and auxiliary support systems.

Responsibilities:

• Develop a range of moderately complex engineering deliverables, including schematics, one-line diagrams, meter and relay diagrams, three-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, demolition drawings, and arrangement diagrams.

• Implement protective and control systems, design DC control schematics, prepare bills of materials, circuit schedules, and conduit schedules, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with project deadlines and budgets.

• Conduct in-depth research and provide recommendations for equipment and material selection. Gather, analyze, and manage data pertinent to engineering tasks.

• Perform engineering calculations such as cable sizing, breaker sizing, voltage drop, load flow, short circuit analysis, arc flash analysis, and equipment sizing for transformers, inverters, and batteries.

• Draft equipment specifications, assess bidders, and review supplier drawings to ensure compliance with contract stipulations.

• Identify client interests and requirements by collaborating with clients and providing project leadership.

• Ensure that client specifications and project goals are integrated into deliverables.

• Delegate tasks and coordinate with other internal and external team members on less complex projects.

• Initiate communication with other engineering disciplines as necessary to identify and coordinate work details.

• Manage smaller projects and assign tasks to junior engineers.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (preferably with a focus on Power Engineering) from an ABET accredited institution.

• A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible design experience.

• Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in California or the ability to obtain it within twelve months.

• Experience in the power generation sector is preferred.

• Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, results-oriented mindset, quality decision-making skills, excellent listening capabilities, and the ability to navigate ambiguity.
