Job Overview

The Chief Land Surveyor will operate both autonomously and collaboratively with team members to execute field survey tasks associated with boundary delineations, ALTA/NSPS Land Title surveys, topographical assessments, photo control surveys, route surveys, and construction stakeout under the oversight of a Registered Professional Surveyor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the effective functioning of the field crew in accordance with established operating procedures and current health and safety regulations.
  • Utilize robotic total stations and GPS technology to meticulously gather pertinent data and information efficiently.
  • Mark boundaries, document detailed observations and sketches, and maintain company surveying equipment and vehicles.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proficient in the operation of GPS devices, data collection tools, and Total Stations.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in various situations.
  • Familiarity with the principles, techniques, and practices involved in land surveying.
  • Understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and the specifications, plans, and regulations related to construction.
  • Awareness of industry-specific safety protocols and practices.
  • Capability to operate motorized equipment safely.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in diverse environmental conditions.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and effectively use hands, tools, and controls.
  • Able to lift and/or move weights ranging from 50 to 75 pounds.
  • Efficiently manage office functions, organize tasks, prioritize work, and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Local travel may be required within a specified radius.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • A high school diploma is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a survey crew chief is preferred.

Compensation:

Salary and hourly wages are commensurate with experience.
