Position Overview

The Chief Land Surveyor will operate both autonomously and collaboratively with team members to execute field survey tasks related to boundary delineations, ALTA/NSPS Land Title surveys, topographical assessments, photo control surveys, route evaluations, and construction layout under the supervision of a Registered Professional Surveyor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the effective functioning of the field crew adhering to established operational protocols and contemporary health and safety regulations.
  • Utilize robotic total stations and GPS technology to meticulously gather pertinent data and information.
  • Mark boundaries, document observations and sketches, and maintain company surveying equipment and vehicles.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proficient in operating GPS devices, data collection tools, and Total Stations.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in fieldwork.
  • Familiarity with the principles, methodologies, and practices of land surveying.
  • Understanding of computer-aided drafting techniques and civil engineering standards, including construction specifications and regulations.
  • Awareness of safe workplace practices specific to the industry.
  • Capability to operate motorized equipment effectively.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in diverse environmental conditions.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and handle tools efficiently.
  • Capacity to lift and/or move weights ranging from 50 to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to manage office tasks efficiently, prioritize responsibilities, and maintain positive communication with colleagues and clients.
  • Local travel may be necessary within a 300-mile radius.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • High school diploma is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a survey crew chief is preferred.

Compensation:

Salary and hourly wages will be determined based on experience.
