Job Overview

The Chief Land Surveyor will operate both autonomously and collaboratively with team members to execute field survey activities related to boundary delineations, ALTA/NSPS Land Title surveys, topographic assessments, photo control surveys, route surveys, and construction layout under the supervision of a Registered Professional Surveyor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the effective functioning of the field crew by adhering to established operational protocols and current health and safety regulations.
  • Utilize robotic total stations and GPS technology to precisely gather pertinent data and information efficiently.
  • Mark boundaries, document detailed observations and sketches, and maintain the organization’s equipment and survey vehicles.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proficient in operating GPS devices, data collection tools, and Total Stations.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative.
  • Familiarity with the principles, methods, and practices of land surveying.
  • Understanding of computer-aided drafting techniques and civil engineering principles, including construction specifications, plans, and regulations.
  • Awareness of industry-specific safety standards and practices.
  • Capability to operate motorized machinery.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various environmental conditions.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and effectively use hands, tools, and controls.
  • Capacity to lift and/or move weights ranging from 50 to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to manage office tasks efficiently, organize work, set priorities, and maintain positive interpersonal relations with colleagues and clients.
  • May require local travel within a specified radius.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license is mandatory.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • High school diploma is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a survey crew chief is preferred.

Compensation:

Salary and hourly wages will be determined based on experience.
