Position Overview

The Chief Land Surveyor will be responsible for overseeing both independent and collaborative field survey activities related to boundary delineations, ALTA/NSPS Land Title surveys, topographic mapping, photo control surveys, route assessments, and construction layout under the supervision of a Registered Professional Surveyor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the effective management of the field survey crew while adhering to established operating procedures and current health and safety regulations.
  • Utilize robotic total stations and GPS technology to gather precise data and information efficiently.
  • Mark boundaries, document findings meticulously, and maintain the functionality of company equipment and survey vehicles.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proficient in operating GPS devices, data collection tools, and Total Stations.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in various situations.
  • Strong understanding of land surveying principles, techniques, and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with computer-aided drafting principles and civil engineering standards, including construction specifications and regulations.
  • Awareness of safe workplace practices specific to the surveying industry.
  • Capability to operate motorized equipment effectively.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in diverse environmental conditions.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate tools and controls proficiently.
  • Capacity to lift and/or transport weights ranging from 50 to 75 pounds.
  • Competence in managing office tasks efficiently, organizing workloads, prioritizing responsibilities, and maintaining positive communication with colleagues and clients.
  • Local travel may be required within a specified radius.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • A high school diploma is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a survey crew chief is preferred.

Compensation:

Salary and hourly wages will be determined based on experience.
