Job Title: Accounting Officer Specialist

Join the State of California as an Accounting Officer Specialist and contribute to the success of our organization. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing professional accounting functions within the General Ledger Unit.

Job Summary:

The Accounting Officer Specialist will work under the general supervision of the Senior Accounting Officer (Supervisor) to perform accounting tasks in accordance with Office of Fiscal Services (OFS) guidelines, Governor's Budget, Department of Finance (DOF) rules and regulations, State Controller's Office (SCO) policies, State Administrative Manual (SAM), and government codes utilizing the Financial Information System of California (FI$Cal) PeopleSoft and Microsoft Office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform professional accounting functions within the General Ledger Unit.
  • Work under the general supervision of the Senior Accounting Officer (Supervisor).
  • Perform accounting tasks in accordance with Office of Fiscal Services (OFS) guidelines, Governor's Budget, Department of Finance (DOF) rules and regulations, State Controller's Office (SCO) policies, State Administrative Manual (SAM), and government codes.
  • Utilize the Financial Information System of California (FI$Cal) PeopleSoft and Microsoft Office.
Requirements:

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the Minimum Qualifications stated in the Classification Specification(s). The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), accounting and budgeting principles, methods, and procedures, and experience performing year-end close activities and financial reporting.
