Job Title: Industrial Engineer Intern & COOP

About the Role:

Hormel Foods Corporation is seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented Industrial Engineering Interns & COOPs to join our team. As an Industrial Engineer Intern & COOP, you will have the opportunity to work on various projects, gain hands-on experience, and develop your skills in industrial engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design, development, and implementation of industrial engineering projects
  • Conduct ergonomic job surveys, analyze operations, and review job loads to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Analyze operations and create AutoCAD layouts to optimize workflow and efficiency
  • Evaluate downtimes and methods to increase efficiency and recommend improvements
  • Evaluate, recommend, and install new equipment and layouts to improve production processes

Requirements:

  • Must graduate in August 2025, December 2025, or May 2026 and major in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership, persuasive, initiative, analytical, and communication skills are necessary for success in this position
  • Possess a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States
  • Applicants must not now, or any time in the future, require sponsorship for an employment visa

Location and Hours:

Location is based out of our Flagship Plant in Austin, MN, or in one of our other production facilities including Austin, MN, Willmar, MN, Melrose, MN, Osceola, IA, or Rochelle, IL. Position is approximately 40 hours per week. Multiple positions starting late May and ending mid-August. One internship offered will be 6 months, full time, 40 hours per week, beginning late May and will be held on a summer and a semester basis, ending approximately in December.

Compensation:

  • Competitive wage
  • The base pay range is $24 to $27 per hour; however, actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location
