Job Summary:

The Product Development Manager at Bass Pro Shops will oversee the development process for assigned category product lines, leading a team of product specialists and technical support resources. This role requires expertise in product development and material development, with a strategic mindset to anticipate future trends and translate them into action.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the merchant business through creative execution, bringing product line planning, material innovation, and sourcing expertise.
• Coach product development team in developing products and driving efficiency in the development process with key stakeholders.
• Develop product development improvement strategies, facilitate product line planning process, and manage product development calendar.
• Lead sourcing initiatives to establish competitive set of qualified suppliers for products and material development platform.
• Investigate product FOB cost analysis and provide solutions to reach target; support merchants in cost negotiation strategies.
• Proactively research new trends, technologies and material to drive innovation and communicate to cross-functional teams on new development opportunities.
• Ensure proper set up and usage of PLM system on development functions.
• Ensure product developments are in line with quality standards, cost, and on-time service targets from concept development to approvals to ex-factory date.
• Build and manage quality management systems to ensure developed products meet the standards and specifications of the brands.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in materials/product development, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in product development in the consumer products industry; experience in the sporting goods and/or outdoor industry is preferred.
• Previous hands-on experience in product development, to include analysis of developing product specifications, completing product reviews, and managing a portfolio of multiple products in development.
• Previous experience leading and developing a high performing team.
