With over 2,000 employees nationwide, we serve approximately 9,000 young individuals aged 16 to 24 each year, primarily in residential settings. Our accredited academic and vocational training programs lead to nationally recognized credentials.

Position Overview

If you are passionate about mentoring and supporting young individuals in their journey towards success, the Phoenix Job Corps has an excellent opportunity for you as a Senior Residential Advisor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate the activities of residential advisors during assigned shifts, ensuring effective program integration and student discipline.
  • Supervise residential staff as needed and may act as the Residential/Dorm Supervisor in their absence.
  • Monitor dormitory conditions, assess situations, and make informed decisions or recommendations.
  • Assist in training and evaluating residential living staff.
  • Handle administrative tasks related to student passes, evaluations, progress reports, and emergencies for the assigned shift.
  • Perform residential advisor duties to maintain safety and appropriate student conduct within the dormitories.
  • Engage with students' families via mail and phone to address concerns and ensure student welfare.
  • Organize dormitory activities, including entertainment and competitions.
  • Inspect dormitory facilities and recommend maintenance as necessary; oversee daily cleanliness and safety protocols.
  • Request supplies to meet the needs of dorm living and ensure student safety.
  • Facilitate student visits to counselors and discuss issues related to assigned students.
  • Participate in orientation activities and social skills training as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate student records and regularly update the center's information system.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to students, staff, and other stakeholders.

Additional Expectations:

  • Willingness to work overtime when required.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance is mandatory.
  • Support and enforce the Job Corps' Zero Tolerance Policy.
  • Encourage the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors and mentoring students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, with advanced degrees preferred. A minimum of one year of experience in Job Corps or a related program is necessary. A valid in-state driver's license is preferred.

Physical requirements include the ability to sit, stand, climb, walk, lift, pull, push, carry, reach, stoop, and crouch. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to lift 40 pounds and assess lifting loads to request assistance when needed.
