With a workforce of over 2,000 employees nationwide, we deliver academic, vocational training, and placement services to around 9,000 young individuals aged 16 to 24, primarily in a residential environment. Our accredited academic and career technical training programs culminate in nationally recognized credentials.
Position Overview
If you are passionate about mentoring and supporting young individuals in achieving their aspirations, the Phoenix Job Corps presents an excellent opportunity for you as a Senior Residential Advisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate the activities of residential advisors during assigned shifts, ensuring effective program management, student discipline, and accurate record-keeping.
- Supervise residential staff as needed and may act as the Residential/Dorm Supervisor in their absence.
- Monitor dormitory conditions, assess situations, and make informed decisions or recommendations.
- Assist in training and evaluating residential living staff.
- Handle administrative tasks related to student passes, evaluations, progress reports, emergencies, and terminations for the assigned shift.
- Perform residential advisor duties to maintain safety and appropriate student conduct within the dormitories.
- Engage with students' families through communication to address concerns and ensure student welfare.
- Organize dormitory activities, including entertainment and competitions.
- Inspect dormitory facilities and recommend maintenance as necessary; oversee daily cleanliness and safety protocols.
- Request supplies to meet dormitory living needs and ensure student safety.
- Facilitate student visits to counselors and discuss any issues related to assigned students.
- Participate in orientation and social skills training as assigned.
- Maintain accurate student records and regularly update the center's information system.
- Deliver high-quality customer service to students, staff, and other stakeholders.
- Be prepared to work overtime as required.
- Regular attendance is essential.
- Support and enforce the Job Corps' Zero Tolerance Policy.
- Encourage the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors and mentoring students.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, with advanced degrees preferred.
At least one year of experience in Job Corps or a related program is necessary.
A valid in-State Driver's License is preferred.
Physical requirements include the ability to sit, stand, climb, walk, lift, pull, push, carry, reach, stoop, and crouch. Candidates must demonstrate the capability to lift 40 pounds and assess lifting loads to request assistance when needed.
