Clinical Nurse Specialist

Work Schedule: PRN - Day/Eve/Night/Rotating Shifts
Required Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program
- Active Minnesota Registered Nurse license
- Preferred experience in healthcare settings (LPN, EMT, etc.)
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
Educational Requirements:
All emergency department RNs are expected to complete either the Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or the Comprehensive Advanced Life Support (CALS) course within one year of employment, subject to course availability.
Key Responsibilities:
The practice of Professional Nursing encompasses, but is not limited to:
- Conducting thorough assessments of patient health by gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing data to establish a baseline health status and care plan, while also monitoring changes in patient conditions.
- Collaborating with the healthcare team to create and coordinate a comprehensive care plan.
- Formulating nursing interventions to be included in the care plan.
- Executing nursing care through independent nursing actions.
- Implementing interventions as directed, ordered, or prescribed by a licensed healthcare provider.
- Delegating nursing tasks or assigning nursing activities to carry out the care plan.
- Delivering safe and effective nursing care.
- Fostering a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Advocating for the individual needs of patients.
- Assessing responses to interventions and evaluating the effectiveness of the care plan.
- Coordinating with other healthcare professionals in managing and implementing care across various settings and communities.
- Providing health promotion, disease prevention, care coordination, and case finding services.
- Designing and executing educational plans tailored to patient needs and assessing the effectiveness of the education provided.
- Contributing to the development of healthcare policies, procedures, and systems.
- Accountable for the quality of care provided, recognizing the limits of knowledge and experience, addressing situations beyond the nurse's competency, and performing at the expected level of education, knowledge, and skill.
- Overseeing, supervising, and evaluating nursing practice.
- Maintaining organizational competencies and nursing competencies relevant to the area of practice.
- Managing information in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Exhibiting effective communication skills.
