Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Family Services Cognitive Counselor to join our team at the Virginia Correctional Center for Women. As a key member of our reentry initiatives, you will provide critical support to inmates and their families, promoting positive relationships and successful reintegration into the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide psycho-educational, psycho-therapeutic, and direct services to Family Services program participants.
  • Work directly with inmates to promote healthy relationships with their children and families.
  • Coordinate and monitor transitional services, programs, and reentry planning for families.
  • Establish professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support inmates' successful reentry.
  • Promote the development of self and staff through training opportunities and networking.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and experience in individual and family therapy, particularly with incarcerated populations.
  • Experience in facilitating courses and programs for families.
  • Knowledge of social services programs and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to complete reports, review policies, and interpret best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with Family Services and parenting programs for incarcerated populations.
  • Knowledge of implementation science and gender-responsive care practices.
  • Professional certification in a relevant family counseling discipline or human services.
