Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Regional Director and Assistant Director of Ambulatory Care Services, you will perform a variety of tasks, including conducting preliminary eye examinations, assisting optometrists with diagnostic procedures, and administering eye drops or medications as directed by healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough eye examinations, including visual acuity, color vision, stereoacuity, and tonometry.
  • Assist optometrists with various diagnostic procedures and examinations.
  • Administer eye drops or medications as directed by healthcare professionals.
  • Perform accurate and detailed documentation of patient medical history and relevant information.
  • Operate and maintain ophthalmic equipment, ensuring calibration and cleanliness.
  • Instruct patients on proper care and usage of contact lenses or other prescribed visual aids.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care and follow-up.
Requirements
  • Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) or equivalent certification.
  • Proficient in ophthalmic diagnostic equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective patient interaction.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and eye anatomy.
  • Commitment to patient confidentiality and ethical standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • An Associate Degree with specialization in Science and one year of experience as a Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience preferred.
