Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for testing and measuring eye function to assist Ophthalmologists in diagnosing and treating eye disorders and diseases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Test patient's far acuity, near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception to assist Ophthalmologists in diagnosing and treating eye disorders and diseases.
  • Examine eye, using slit lamp, for abnormalities of cornea, and anterior and posterior chambers.
  • Apply drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes.
  • Measure intraocular pressure of eyes (glaucoma test).
  • Test patient's field of vision, including central and peripheral vision, for defects, and chart test results on graph paper.
  • Measure axial length of eye, using ultrasound equipment.
  • Perform other tests and measurements as requested by physician.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician in a retina practice preferred.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) from a Joint Commission for Allied Health Personnel (JCAHPO) approved institutional course preferred or working towards obtaining certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preferable 5 + years experience in Retina Practice.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant.
