About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Mount Sinai Health System. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a critical role in assisting our ophthalmologists and opticians in performing diagnostic tests and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preliminary screening examinations, including visual field tests, ocular motility tests, and tonometry tests.
  • Direct the flow of patients examined by the physician or optician, obtaining medical and personal data for patient charts.
  • Screen patients for conditions excluding ocular examination, arrange for laboratory and other tests, and assist with minor office surgery and laser treatments.
  • Calibrate and maintain all instruments used, including bio-microscopes, lensometers, and tonometers.
Requirements
  • High school diploma/GED, with appropriate training in the field.
  • 0-1 year minimum experience as an Ophthalmic Tech/Medical Office Assistant or equivalent.
