Role Summary:

The Senior Accounting Specialist will manage various journal entries and reconciliations during each month-end closing and provide essential support functions as required by the accounting division.

The ideal candidate should be adept at reviewing and analyzing balance sheet accounts, quickly grasping new processes, and adapting to software updates.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a fixed asset sub-ledger using SAGE software.
  • Prepare monthly Work In Progress (CIP) project analyses.
  • Generate reports for both internal and external presentations.
  • Possess over 3 years of experience reconciling general ledger, bank, and site accounts.
  • Have over 3 years of experience reconciling monthly credit card accounts with bank statements.
  • Experience in reconciling accounts receivable, inventory, and store cash transactions for over 3 years.
  • Create and post journal entries.
  • Identify opportunities for process, system, and reporting enhancements through independent research.
  • Assist in the execution of approved projects.
  • Develop and maintain complex Excel spreadsheets as directed.
General Responsibilities:
  • Complete specific tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Uphold and promote the Company's image standards.
  • Adhere to all Company policies and procedures.
  • Draft and process routine correspondence.
  • Input and maintain Excel spreadsheets as instructed.
  • Utilize personal computers in a Windows environment and electronic mail.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues.
  • Prioritize safety at all times and report any incidents immediately.
Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform the essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are required:

  • General accounting experience is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Understanding of general ledger entries and their implications on financial statements.
  • Exposure to various accounting software systems.

Education:

An Associate's Degree in Accounting/Finance or a related field, or 2 to 3 years of relevant accounting experience. Relevant workplace experience may substitute for formal education.

Communication Skills:

Ability to convey ideas effectively both verbally and in writing. Proficient in presenting information in one-on-one and small group settings. Proficiency in using a personal computer in English is required.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and volume. Competence in applying basic algebra concepts.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and manage various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Capability to interpret various instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
