POSITION SUMMARY:


As a specialist in manufacturing engineering, you will play a crucial role in assessing and executing manufacturing processes, workflows, and spatial requirements while promoting continuous enhancements on current projects.

This position demands a strategic mindset coupled with robust technical knowledge, project management capabilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.

The ideal candidate will drive product innovation, enhance process efficiency, and ensure the successful delivery of engineering initiatives.

The successful applicant will pinpoint areas needing improvement, devise strategies and plans, and supervise the execution of modifications aimed at boosting operational efficiency, quality, and productivity.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facilitate new product introductions by determining tooling and assembly methods that maximize processing efficiency. Evaluate existing manufacturing processes to identify potential enhancements in efficiency, quality, yield, and safety. Develop and assess manufacturing processes by leveraging knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials. Collaborate with functional teams to analyze and develop workflows, spatial requirements, and equipment layouts. Plan and implement modifications to machinery, equipment, production systems, and work methods to realize identified improvements. Coordinate the implementation of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) as driven by internal or customer needs. Document new methodologies and processes to ensure they are integrated into daily operations. Exhibit the ability to work across various departments within a manufacturing facility. Lead or engage in special projects as required.

Proactively identify concerns during ongoing projects and inform management of potential risks, challenges, and opportunities, while proposing strategies for enhancement.

Champion continuous improvement initiatives by actively participating in projects aimed at optimizing production processes, reducing costs, and enhancing overall operational effectiveness.

Remain informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in metal fabrication and manufacturing, incorporating relevant innovations into production methodologies.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Manufacturing Management, or a related discipline. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment focused on custom-engineered industrial equipment and modular assemblies. Experience with end-to-end material conveyance systems is advantageous. Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing. Exceptional prioritization skills.

Strong administrative, planning, facilitation, and organizational abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on relationship building, influencing others, and fostering a positive workplace culture.

Demonstrated experience in a manufacturing engineering role within the sheet metal fabrication sector, with comprehensive knowledge of production processes, equipment, and quality standards.

Certification in Lean Six Sigma methodologies, with a proven record of successfully implementing process enhancements.

Specific Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge:
Extensive experience in industrial equipment, conveyance systems, hydraulics, and electrical design. General knowledge of structural fabrication, welding, and machining. Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations. Proficiency in CAD design, with SolidWorks 3D preferred. Competence with the Autodesk Suite. Experience with MS Office software (Word, Excel, Visio). Familiarity with integrated ERP systems, preferably Epicor. Strong management skills in problem-solving and decision-making to navigate technical challenges. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively, demonstrating strong organizational skills. A collaborative approach with the capacity to work alongside cross-functional teams. Experience collaborating with departments such as new product development, quality assurance, and production. Must thrive in a fast-paced environment with meticulous attention to detail. Willingness to engage with customer issues and troubleshoot as necessary to drive resolution.
