POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Process Improvement Engineer at The Heico Companies, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing manufacturing operations. This position requires a forward-thinking individual with robust technical skills, adept project management capabilities, and a collaborative spirit to work effectively within cross-functional teams. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving product innovation, improving processes, and ensuring the successful delivery of engineering initiatives. You will identify opportunities for enhancement, devise strategic plans, and oversee the execution of changes aimed at boosting operational efficiency, quality, and productivity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate new product launches by determining tooling requirements and assembly methods that enhance processing efficiency.
- Evaluate current manufacturing practices and pinpoint areas for improvement in efficiency, quality, yield, and safety.
- Design and assess manufacturing processes by leveraging knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
- Collaborate with functional teams to analyze and develop workflows, spatial requirements, and equipment layouts.
- Plan and implement modifications to machinery, production systems, and work methods to realize identified improvements.
- Coordinate the execution of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) as required.
- Document new methodologies and processes to ensure they are effectively integrated into operations.
- Engage with multiple departments within the manufacturing facility.
- Lead or contribute to special projects as needed.
- Proactively identify potential issues in ongoing projects and communicate risks, challenges, and opportunities to management, proposing improvement strategies.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives, actively participating in projects aimed at optimizing production processes, reducing costs, and enhancing overall operational effectiveness.
- Stay informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in manufacturing, integrating relevant innovations into production processes.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Management, or a related discipline.
- 3 to 7 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing setting, particularly in custom-engineered industrial equipment and modular assemblies.
- Experience with end-to-end material handling systems is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
- Exceptional prioritization skills.
- Strong organizational, planning, and facilitation abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a talent for building relationships and fostering a positive work environment.
- Proven experience in a manufacturing engineering role within the sheet metal fabrication sector, with a comprehensive understanding of production processes, equipment, and quality standards.
- Certification in Lean Six Sigma methodologies, with a history of successfully implementing process enhancements.
- Extensive experience in industrial equipment, material handling systems, hydraulics, and electrical design.
- General knowledge of structural fabrication, welding, and machining.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Experience in CAD design, with a preference for SolidWorks 3D.
- Proficiency in the Autodesk Suite.
- Experience with MS Office software (Word, Excel, Visio).
- Experience in an integrated ERP system environment, with Epicor being preferred.
- Strong management skills, particularly in problem-solving and decision-making to address technical challenges.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively with strong organizational skills.
- A collaborative mindset, capable of working with cross-functional teams.
- Experience collaborating with departments such as new product development, quality assurance, and production.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a keen attention to detail.
- Willingness to engage with customer issues and troubleshoot as necessary to drive resolutions.
