About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary office in Sarasota, Florida. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading civil engineering design projects, collaborating with clients and government agencies, and working effectively with a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of civil engineering design, including layout/geometry, grading, drainage, paving, water, sewer, and erosion control.
  • Prepare complete submission packages, supporting calculations, cost estimates, project schedules, and other duties.
  • Develop designs through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
  • Utilize technologies to develop three-dimensional models of civil systems and provide markups for junior engineers/designers.
  • Prepare and revise documentation in various civil phases, including site plans and details.
  • Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.
  • Participate in client project requirement meetings and value analysis, and basic cost estimating.
  • Assist Project Manager with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.
  • Lead the preparation and coordination of project specifications with construction documents.
  • Perform and oversee the performance of calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
  • Participate in constructability review.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects.
  • Assist in the development of new standards and specifications for the civil group.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform all aspects of design (grading, streets, water, sewer, storm drain, hydrology, erosion control, etc.) with an emphasis on technical and project delivery excellence.
  • Sound knowledge of industry practice and demonstrated commitment to excellence in customer service.
  • Experience with both private and public sector clients/projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent oral, written, and graphic communication skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D, Hydrology/Hydraulic design software, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Direct experience in client management and business development is an asset.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the profession of Civil Engineering civil/site design.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in FL or ability to obtain within 6 months.
